Our story

We are Geoff and Theresa Webb.  After 30 years of marriage and raising two wonderful sons, we found ourselves "empty nesters" so we decided to tap into our creative sides.

Geoff has always been extremely creative!  He can draw, paint and design anything on the computer using CAD and other software. He decided it was time to sell the pool table and invest in a (120W, CO2) laser, which is something he has been talking about for the past 20 years! After much on the job training, he has honed his skills and uses it to create new and interesting items from thin wood and other materials.

I (Theresa, here) inherited a sewing machine and had a crazy idea to attempt to use it! After trial and error, I took on the bold challenge of making blankets for our boys from their plethora of high school t-shirts.  Eventually I created beautiful blankets that they were proud to display in their college dorm rooms.  Since then I have made over 100 more blankets, so I'm getting pretty good at it!  ;-) . (During the COVID pandemic I have made over 300 masks for family and friends).

We are located in LaGrange, Kentucky, a quaint little town in Oldham County where a train runs right down the middle of Main Street. Although we are in the country, we can be in downtown Louisville in less than 30 minutes.

We have found so much pleasure in displaying our crafts at the various Art Shows and Festivals around town.  It's been a wonderful distraction from the "empty nest"!

how did we get our name?

We have always loved cats, especially BLACK cats!  I used to work for a local Veterinarian and that is when I began "collecting" black cats.  We have had up to six at one time!  The four we have now are named Kylo-Ren, Santana, Sullivan and Stewart. When Geoff bought the laser and we started our business, we wanted to come up with a name that represented us so we became BLACK CATS WITH LASERS! Although we included them in our name, their only “jobs” are holding down the furniture, supervising the laser and occasionally chasing a mouse out of the workshop! (when not busy napping) ;-}
